BBQ Tempeh
An easy summer trick: marinate whole tempeh cakes in your favorite BBQ sauce, grill and slice!

BBQ Tempeh
An easy summer trick: marinate whole tempeh cakes in your favorite BBQ sauce, grill and slice!Serve with your favorite BBQ sides. I served this with sautéed/steamed broccoli and yellow squash with a bit of garlic. Happy summer :)
Ingredients
- (2) 8oz Traditional Tootie’s Tempeh
- 10oz BBQ Sauce - I like TJ’s Kansas City Style
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons oil
Instructions
- Combine the ingredients in a large enough container that fits the tempeh cakes
- Coat the tempeh in the marinade and marinate the cakes for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight. Halfway through, turn the cakes to ensure an even coating
- Take the cakes out of the marinade and place them on a medium/high grill. Spoon some additional marinade onto the top of the cakes while grilling..
- After 4-6 minutes, using a metal spatula, turn the cakes. You want to caramelize the cakes and should see grill marks, but be careful not to burn them.
- Spoon more marinade onto the top of the cakes and cook for an additional 4 minutes
- Serve with your favorite BBQ sides.
